루프백 채널 2: “연말 꾸러미” (2025)는 Charpentier의 성악곡 “아! 욕망을 가졌었던 것이 참으로 불행하구나(Ah! Qu’on est malheureux d’avoir eu des désirs)”에서 출발했다. 가사는 지워지고, 선율의 조각들만 남아 계속 다시 맞춰지는 동안 원곡은 점차 흐려졌다.
채널 2++에서는 그 흐려진 자리에 닮은꼴들이 들어선다. 조각들은 장난감 악기와 플라스틱 오브젝트 위에서 원곡을 닮은 모양으로 성형된다. 연주자들은 그 소리를 휴대폰에 녹음하고, 녹음된 소리는 그 모양대로 굳은 채 연주 위에 다시 재생된다. 썩지도 시들지도 않는 닮은꼴들이 그렇게 무대 위에 쌓여 간다. 부제 “d’avoir eu”(가졌었던)가 말하듯, 원곡은 이제 가졌었던 것으로만 남는다.

loopback ch. 2: “holiday bundle” (2025) started from Charpentier’s song Ah! Qu’on est malheureux d’avoir eu des désirs. The words were erased, and as the remaining fragments of the melody were reassembled again and again, the original gradually faded.
In ch. 2++, look-alikes settle into the faded space. On toy instruments and plastic objects, the fragments are molded into shapes resembling the original. The performers record these sounds on their smartphones, and the recordings, set in that shape, are played back over the live playing. Look-alikes that neither rot nor wither pile up on stage. As the subtitle “d’avoir eu” (to have had) says, the original now remains only as something once had.
